He composed a lot of sacred music and choral works but also several operas, symphonies and chamber music. Today he is remembered almost exclusively for his elaborate and challenging organ compositions. This double CD presents Rheinberger's extensive but nearly unknown symphonic work - his large tone painting Wallenstein op. 10 (c. one hour playing time!), two symphonic works for male choir and orchestra, a Fantasia for orchestra and some Overtures - for the first time in a larger scale.
