Coenraad Bloemendal has performed solos with orchestras through Canada and plays with some of the best chamber ensembles in Canada. This CD presents duos by well-known names from the classical period as well as the world premiere recording (and performance) of a piece, based on themes by Bach, written especially for the duo by renowned award-winning composer and jazz bassist Don Thompson. The name “In Memory of Glenn” refers to Glenn Gould, with whom Bloemendal, Quarrington, and Thompson worked frequently. They were involved in the last recording that Glenn Gould did before his death. |
