A phenomenal set from Philips that showcases Mitsuko Uchida doing what she does best; Mozart Piano Sonatas. The collection of sonatas is wonderfully played by Uchida, including my favourite, Sonata No. 11. A few years ago, Deutsche Grammaphon put out a collection of complete Beethoven Piano Sonatas with Vladimir Ashkenazy, but in my mind this Mozart set by Philips surpasses even that great box set. We not only get the Complete Sonatas on this disc, but the Complete music for Piano, including Variations, Duets, and everything else that Mozart penned for the keyboard. Also of specific interest is the tenth disc in the set which features Ton Koopman playing Minuets and other works on Harpsichord. An interesting choice and break from the piano on the other discs. At a super budget price, this 12 CD set is amazing collectors item, and an absolute must for piano fans!
