Mozart - Violin Sonatas / Manze, Egarr
Label: HARMONIA MUNDI
Format: SACD HYBRID
Andrew Manze, violin; Richard Egarr, fortepiano
This new disc of Mozart violin sonatas shows off the remarkable talents of both performers equally. Composed after he settled in Vienna, Mozart’s “Auernhammer” sonatas, K.376, 377 and 380, are the first fruits of his freedom from Salzburg serfdom and a sign of his new, revolutionary spirit. Multiple award winners Andrew Manze and Richard Egarr capture perfectly the extraordinary sense of orchestral colour and virtuoso, concerto-style interplay which runs throughout these works. A rarely-heard fragment, K.403, is included as a delightful bonus. Upcoming releases by these artists include Andrew Manze playing Mozart violin concertos with the English Concert and Richard Egarr playing Mozart Fantasia and Rondos on fortepiano.
