A Midsummer Night's Dream (blu-ray)

Opus Arte bring yet another fabulous disc to the attention of serious HD aficionados. This time around the ambitious distrib offers a BBC Concert Orchestra and Pacific Northwest Ballet rendition of A Midsummer Night’s Dream conducted by Stewart Kershaw. Watching ballet recorded on BD may seem rather strange, let alone reviewing and evaluating it, but if there is a home media format capable of preserving the integrity of a live stage performance then BD surely is it. This is as close as one could get to being part of it without actually going to the opera house. I am very, very impressed with the strong transfer Opus Arte deliver yet again and truly hope that these series of classical masterpieces find their designated audience. Everything here screams perfection and I honestly cannot imagine an opera/ballet/theater aficionado not wanting to acquire these marvelous BD releases. They are simply outstanding.
