But this 1964 album depicts a special moment in the Montreal-born artist’s career. Canadiana Suite pays tribute to this spacious and special country with jazz music. Peterson documents and celebrates the regions of the country in eight tracks and takes listeners out to the Maritimes in “Ballad to the East,” before heading into Quebec with “Laurentide Waltz” and “Place St. Henri.” Passing through Toronto – “Hogtown Blues” – and on through the Prairies for several stops – “Blues of the Prairies” and others – he finally reaches the West Coast with “Land of the Misty Giants.” Never a more unique trip could you take through Canada than on the tracks of this album.
