Eastman-rochester Pops Orchestra - Hi-fi A La Espa
Legendary recording of the Eastman-Rochester Orchestra conducted by Frederick Fennell. The program was probably most notable for its popularity, and "serious" critics found fault with the compilation of works by so many composers. Perhaps that is why the recording became so popular, however. As a hi-fi enthusiast, however, one more really important thing must be pointed out. The two concert sessions were recorded with only three microphones mounted about five meters diagonally above the conductor and brought directly to the tape. There was no possibility to change anything afterwards and maybe that's why this recording sounds so fantastic.
