Mahler: Symphony #9 2-lp Set / Bernstein, Berlin
One of Mahler's greatest conductors and one of Mahler's finest orchestras came together for two concerts in October 1979. And these two performances of Mahler's 9th Symphony were to prove unique in more ways than one, remaining the only collaboration between star conductor Leonard Bernstein and the singular Berlin Philharmonic. This interpretation became legendary, and when it was first released on CD thirteen years later, it won numerous awards, including two Grammys. Now, for the first time, this stellar musical performance is being released on vinyl (2 LPs), in 180-gram pressings, based on masters of the original sources and using the original artwork.
