Patina / Peter Gregson
Peter Gregson, renowned composer, cellist and Deutsche Grammophon artist, presents his fifth studio album, Patina. Gregson has long been fascinated by the impact of finitude and absence on life, and by attempting to translate these powerful non-issues into his music. With his new studio album, he confronts himself and the listener with the question: what happens when you remove the melody? "Supporting melodies change their meaning; harmonies, cadence, phrasing take on a different role. But the blueprint of the absent melody is still palpable, even if you don't hear it. His music is regularly requested by the world's most exciting choreographers and dance companies, including Theaterhaus Stuttgart / Gauthier Dance, Joffrey Ballet, PA Ballet, Dutch National Ballet and Ballet BC. His film credits include Roger Michell's "Blackbird" (starring Kate Winslet and Susan Sarandon) and Alan Rickman's "A Little Chaos," as well as the soundtrack for the critically acclaimed popular video game "Boundless," and the music for some of television's most popular series - from Netflix's hit "Bridgeton" to HBO's "The New Pope" by Paolo Sorrentino. Brands such as Balenciaga, Burberry, Dior, Ralph Lauren and Pat McGrath have used Gregson's music in their recent campaigns and runway shows.
