For the 50th anniversary of the debut: "Eric Clapton" reissued Last year marked the 50th anniversary of "Eric Clapton," Eric Clapton's debut solo album. In keeping with this anniversary, there will be a Limited Anniversary Deluxe Edition with four CDs as well as a vinyl reissue in 2021 "Eric Clapton" was originally released in August 1970. It represents one of the most successful reinventions in rock history. After Clapton emerged as one of the seminal guitar heroes of the 1960s, the Briton rearranged his musical priorities. The album marked Clapton's transition from instrumental icon to versatile singer and musician, and laid the foundation for his highly successful solo career, which continues to this day. To do so, he surrounded himself with a new cast of American musicians and drew on a musical foundation that provided a new framework for his talents. The ensemble on "Eric Clapton" includes, in addition to Clapton (vocals, guitar), Rita Coolidge (vocals), Bob Keys (saxophone), Bobby Whitlock (Hammond organ, vocals), Leon Russell (piano), Sonny Curtis (vocals), Jim Gordon (drums), Bonnie Bramlett (vocals), Delaney Bramlett (rhythm guitar), Carl Radle (bass), Jerry Allison (vocals), John Simon (piano), Stephen Stills (guitar, vocals), Jim Price (trumpet) and Tex Johnson (percussion). The record was recorded in January 1970 at Village Recorders Studio in West Los Angeles and in March 1970 at Island Studios in London. The success was great: In Great Britain "Eric Clapton" landed at number 13, in the USA at number 14 in the charts The new Limited Anniversary Deluxe Edition collects the album in three separate mixes: the Eric Clapton Mix, the Delany Bramlett Mix and the Tom Dowd Mix (The UK Version). The Eric Clapton Mix is released in its entirety for the first time. This anniversary collection also includes some singles, alternate versions and session outtakes. Record lovers will get their money's worth with the vinyl reissue.
