Max Richter

Max Richter is one of the most influential musical voices in the world today. With groundbreaking works such as SLEEP, Vivaldi Recomposed and most recently VOICES, inspired by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, he has touched and inspired an audience of millions worldwide, as well as with his soundtracks for major Hollywood blockbusters. Thoughtful and inspiring, his new album once again tackles the big questions of our time. Exiles began ten years ago, with the hope brought by the Arab Spring. Deeply moved by the tragedy of the migration crisis, he decided to translate his compassion into a ballet score of the same name for the Nederlands Dans Theater and its house choreographers Sol León and Paul Lightfoot. "Composing is a way for me to talk about the things that touch me. (Max Richter) The album, which also features brand new orchestral versions of some of his best-known earlier works, was recorded in Tallinn in 2019 by Kristjan Järvi and the Baltic Sea Philharmonic, an orchestra that prides itself on fostering cross-border unity and artistic innovation. Among the newly orchestrated pieces is perhaps one of his most famous compositions On the Nature of Daylight (The Blue Notebooks),known from films and series such as Arrival, The Handmaid's Taleor Shutter Island. In addition, the new orchestral versions include The Haunted Ocean (Waltz withBashir), Infra 5 (Infra), Sunlightfrom his album Songs from Before(a favorite album of David Bowie), and last but not least, the previously unreleasedFlowers of HerselfromWoolf Works. "Music has its own voice in culture. It's part of the conversation about how we should live. That's what creativity is. When you make something, you're trying to explore a question or look at an aspect of our world and comment on it or make people think and discuss it. As Nina Simone said, it is the duty of every artist to 'reflect the times'. "Max RichterAnd that is precisely what the composer has done time and again throughout his career, sending messages that are thought-provoking, in music of depth and beauty.
