Momo Kodama - Hosokawa / Mozart
Momo Kodama, Mito Chamber Orchestra, Seiji Ozawa
Momo Kodama is considered one of the most important interpreters of modern piano literature. The Japanese pianist's sensitive and intellectually thoughtful style predestines her to discover new musical territory. Her previously released ECM albums "La vallée des cloches" (2013) and "Point and Line" (2017) bore impressionistic traits and traced an arc from the European avant-garde of the early 20th century to the Japanese present. On her new album, Momo Kodama combines Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major (K. 488) with the piano concerto "Lotus under the moonlight" (2006) by Toshio Hosokawa, written especially for her. The contemporary composer was inspired by Mozart's piano concerto for his composition for the Mozart commemorative year 2006.
