His interpretation of the Toccatas and Fugues BWV 565, 540 and 538 as well as the Toccata, Adagio and Fugue BWV 564 were considered exemplary at the time, especially since they were recorded on the legendary Schnitger organ of the St. Laurenskerk in Alkmaar, the Netherlands.
