Bruckner once called his Sixth the "most pert" - not only a play on words, but also an allusion to her self-confident habitus, which is expressed by a catchy theme and a new conception of form, with the emphasis not on the finale as usual, but on the first movement. Nevertheless, the conclusion of the symphony is one of the most enigmatic finales of the entire 19th century. For his recording with the London Symphony Orchestra, Sir Simon Rattle has once again opted for the Urtext edition of Benjamin-Gunnar Cohrs, which he premiered in 2016 with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
