Over 30 years after its initial production, this legendary recording of Heinrich Schutz’s masterpiece is released here in digitally remastered form: In 1984, the album constituted a pioneering effort in the field of historically informed performance practice and was awarded the Deutsche Schallplattenpreis; the complete recording of Schutz’s 29 motets has remained a benchmark recording ever since. The Knabenchor Hannover is heard at its best: directed by Heinz Hennig, the ensemble is joined by renowned soloists such as Bruce Dickey, Charles Toet and Charles Brett, Wilfried Jochens, and (not least) the acclaimed chorister Sebastian Hennig.
