The sound is superb -- The balance is natural and lifelike, the strings are richly sonorous in sustained writing, beautifully transparent and light the pianissimo passages; the winds are expertly placed and not spot lit and the brass and percussion have splendid body and depth. The playing throughout is as committed as one could wish: the orchestra which Nielsen often visited in the early part of the century have this music in their blood.
