Gilels Plays Tchaikovsky

Unlike his friend and compatriot Sviatoslav Richter, Emil Gilels enjoyed playing Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No.2 just as much as the celebrated Piano Concerto No.1. Their playing styles, while equally virtuosic, were very different. The two works, which rarely appear together, are performed by Gilels alongside the Original Theme and Variations Op.19.
