Ann Bradfield's debut release, Variations, features four works for alto saxophone and piano that are not commonly recorded. With a focus on pieces that serve as invaluable examples of the saxophone's pedagogical repertoire, the works chosen also represent beauty and endless expressive opportunities for both saxophone and piano. Gokovsky's Variations pathetiques demonstrates the extreme and virtuosic qualities of the saxophone. Delden provides a unique and thoughtful Sonatina, and Bourrel and Eychenne each provide a gorgeous take on the sonata that highlight lush elements of the French style. Ann Bradfield serves as Assistant Professor of Saxophone at the University of Northern Iowa. She holds a D.M.A. from the University of North Texas.
