Daniel Matrone writes of this project: “Recordings have always been steps in my works, but also the result of encounters. Making a record on the organ of the Trinità dei Monti is an old, long deferred project of mine. Gradually, the gathering of circumstances, friendships, and the fact that this instrument had become familiar to me, made obvious to me that the time of achievement had come. At last the idea of an 'imaginary dialogue' with this organ imposed itself. Now it had to be carried out. I have conceived it in the form of a recital. Talking about my musical manipulations I say they live 'in the fractures of time'. They insist upon momentary, ephemeral emotions left here and there by the past, without trying to reconstruct, but rather to find complicities and affinities with them and then let them rest in the open air and listen to them taking a place and mixing with our own space. The Merklin organ of the Trinità brings me back to the Merklin organ of the ancient cathedral of Annaba (Bone) and to my childhood in Algeria. This probably explains this form of wandering, this attraction to nomadism.”
