Between the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, dances were played as entertainment for every social class. Saltarelli, pive, estampie, and standpipes are all musical forms in ternary rhythm, suitable for dynamic and jumping movements. The instrumental ensemble Aurea Proportio was founded in 1993 by a group of musicians and researchers with classical education.
