Acclaim Her much awaited sophomore release "if the moon turns green ..." was released in September of 2007. It was selected as a TOP 10 Canadian Recording of the Year by Len Dobbin, Kathya Heppell and Dan Sich. It earned her recognition as the "Best Female Vocalist" at the 2008 Hamilton Music Awards and a nomination in the same category at the National Jazz Awards in 2008 and 2009. The album was also a first place jury selection which allowed Diana to perform at the prestigious Jazz a Juan Revelations 2008 (Juan-les-Pins, France) where she was voted "Premiere Dauphine" by the Juan public. In 2009, if the moon turns green ...was nominated for Jazz Album of the Year at the National Jazz Awards and Best Vocal Jazz Album at the JUNO's. A simple, but extremely engaging jazz vocal album. With her refreshing, gentle and beautiful voice, Diana Panton interprets every lyric with elegance, feeling and relaxed atmosphere - creating new versions of jazz standards equally as good as the originals. Truly excellent. Ma Kei Fat, Hong Kong's Ming Pao Weekly ★★★★! Her soft sweet voice breathes new life into these standards. Hayward, Hong Kong's SingTao Daily Starting with the bass and guitar introduction of the opening track, vocal jazz fans can anticipate that this album will bring more joy than expected. Diana enters with a voice that is both endearing and charming. It is clear as day that this romantic "moon and stars" album ushers in a new star, that of the honey-toned Diana Panton. Her singing is at once smooth and bittersweet. The music is enriched by the important contribution of Don Thompson and Reg Schwager who lend their bouncing support to make the album really swing. Kouji Kubota, Jazz JAPAN, vol.2 There has been a lot of buzz around Diana Panton since her first CD was released in 2005, and as all of us cynics know, sometimes buzz is justified and sometimes it isn’t. In Panton’s case, I am happy to add my voice to the chorus of praise and report that the buzz is utterly justified. Her second CD “If the Moon Turns Green” is a gorgeous collection of star-and –moon-themed standards. Cathy Riches, WholeNote Magazine [Read the full review] If you enjoyed Ms. Panton's superb debut CD, wait till you hear this one! Lots of obscure material, great singing and perfect backing once again from Don Thompson and Reg Schwager! Len Dobbin (Montreal, Canada) A wonderful second outing from this superb Hamilton-based jazz singer, again accompanied (quite simply) by just Don Thompson and Reg Schwager 9/10 (LD) Montreal Mirror All the songs [...] play to a lunar/stellar theme and the results are heavenly. Panton's voice is rich with shapely tone and definition, like moonlight glowing on the notes, which seem drawn up out of a half dream Jeff Mahoney, "Must-listen CDs", Hamilton Spectator Diana Panton’s gifted voice has a direct penetrating power, full of an emotional conviction that her contemporaries lack. The combination of her ethereal and graceful singing skill, appealingly luscious voice and her ability to deliver the lyrics as a storyteller make Diana Panton simply irresistible. […] The simple trio arrangements make Panton’s exquisite sweet voice stand out. Rui-Feng Hong, Taiwan’s Audio Art Magazine Nothing fake, just refreshingly simple and honest music. Diana Panton’s relaxed girlish voice has the perfect chemistry with jazz, creating an unforgettable experience for the listener. This lovely recording easily gets you addicted to her music.
