The American Bandmasters Association/University of Florida Commissioning project was founded in 2006 by David Waybright with the intention of establishing a lead gift from the University of Florida to initiate American Bandmasters Association involvement in the commissioning of new works for wind band. The five works on this new release are all works resulting from this project. A standing committee in The American Bandmasters Association makes recommendations to the Board of Directors on new composers to engage for the commissioning process. The composers featured on this release include Joel Puckett (It Perched for Vespers Nine), Ricardo Lorenz (El Muro), Kathryn Salfelder (Crossing Parallels), Wayne Oquin (Affirmation), and Paul Dooley (Meditation at Lagunitas).
