AORTA is the stunning new collection of works for piano and electronics from Bang on a Can pianist Vicky Chow. AORTA features compositions from some of today’s most exciting new composers, including Daniel Wohl, Molly Joyce, Andy Akiho, Christopher Cerrone, Jakub Ciupinski, and Jacob Cooper. All pieces were written specifically for Chow, expanding the timbral palette of the piano by including electronics and prepared piano. Chow has performed internationally in Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America at venues such as Carnegie Hall, The Barbican Center, the Muziekgebouw, the Tonhalle, the Tongyeong Concert Hall, and more. Most recently she gave the north American premiere of Steve Reich’s work “Piano Counterpoint” and the world premiere of John Zorn’s new piano trio titled “The Aristos.” Chow’s passion for new music has propelled her to work with an A-to-Z of leading composers and musicians such as Andy Akiho, Louis Andriessen, Nik Bartsch, Michael Gordon, and many more. Her next projects are to include a piano concerto by American composer Ronald Bruce Smith, solo piano works by Pulitzer nominated Chris Cerrone, and Canadian composers Adam Basanta and Vincent Ho.
