Bach: Missae Breves (junghnel)

Bach's four Masses BWV233-236, composed in Leipzig between 1735 and 1744, consist for the most part of parodies and re-workings of cantata movements. As a result, they were long considered second-rate music. But listening to these classic performances from Konrad Junghänel and Cantus Cölln, it soon becomes apparent that Bach succeeded in his adapatations. Originally released in 2007, this recording is available once more as part of harmonia mundi's Heritage series.
