When producer Steve Plews met pianist Kenneth Hamilton while working on a project at Cardiff University, he seized the opportunity to record Ronald Stevenson’s piano music with him. Kenneth first discovered Ronald Stevenson through Lawrence Glover, his piano teacher at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. At the time, Stevenson was a respected figure in the UK, despite being labeled by some as a neo-Romantic reactionary. It was not until 1990 that Kenneth met Ronald, eager to learn from his legendary keyboard prowess. This intensely personal release of solo works is a tour de force of British piano music, and brings into the limelight an important composer who is frequently unjustly overlooked.
