From the romantic to the modern eras, these three generations of Czech composers left a grand legacy. The masterpieces from these Czech composers that are featured on this release are less known to larger audiences. The challenge in finding less-performed works is what inspired this release. From this endeavor grew this program which is full of Bohemian colors, and also features Haydn’s famous “Gypsy” trio. The emerging Belgian piano trio Impression is made up of sisters Fien and Riet Van den Fonteyne (violin and cello) and pianist Florestan Bataillie. These passionate musicians got to know each other at the international chamber music festival ‘Musica Mundi.’ The trio initially formed as part of their studies at the Royal Conservatories of Antwerp and Brussels, but quickly evolved into an appreciated ensemble outside of their school walls. They have performed at the Concergebouw of Amsterdam, Muziekgebouw Frits Phillips, and won all three prizes at the international Storioni Toonzaal Prijs in 2015.  Price: $25.98 |
