Regardless, they all have the same intimate feeling for the organ. Karlsen grew up immersed in church music. His father, Rolf Karlsen, was Oslo cathedral organist for almost two decades. Karlsen’s music is based upon the German-Lutheran tradition. Trygve Madsen is a student of Egil Hovland, one of our day’s most significant church musicians. His music is more playful, and closer to that of the French organ symphony. Olivier Messiaen has been the primary inspiration for Kjell Flem’s compositions, not only in his writing technique, but also in his usage of music from exotic countries.  Price: $48.98 |
