An unusual aspect of Stravinsky emerges from this four works. Even this final version of 'Pulcinella' has a neoclassical feel. His Violin Concerto marked a return to Bach, played here sublimely by David Oistrakh. There follows Stravinsky himself conducting 'Jeu de Cartes', gleefully making the joker come across as a real prankster. Finally, a 1963 rendering of his 'Mouvements' manages to demystify Webern-style serialism in a mere ten minutes.
