Label: BRILLIANT CLASSICS Catalog: BRI95140 Format: CD LUCA SCANDALIBorn in Venice, Baldassare Galuppi (1706-1785) held several emportant musical posts across Europe, including at the courts of London and St. Petersburg. He was a world-renowned keyboardist, and produced an incredible oeuvre of compositions, including more than 100 operas. “Galuppi’s music is to be found everywhere there are cultivated people,” wrote Francesco Caffi in 1854. True to that sentiment, Galuppi’s keyboard sonatas were exceedingly popular and were published in many countries. These keyboard sonatas, written for harpsichord and organ, are composed in the gallant style, with charming melodies and skilled accompaniment. Performing these works is Luca Scandali, one of Italy’s finest organist. He performs here on two historic organs built by Caetano Callido in 1792 and 1804. Price: $17.98 |
