Eric Satie (1866-1925) is well known for his eccentric style that was far ahead of its time. He wrote in a very personal way, deliberately distancing himself from the established standards of composition. This release, includes his “Prelude de la porte heroique du ciel,” “Trois Sarabandes,” “Gymnopedies,” “Trois Gnossiennes,” and “Gnossiennes 4-6.” Satie’s Gymnopedies are his most known and performed pieces. These slow waltzes were originally performed in Greece during rituals. Alessandro Simonetto (b. 1974) performs these pieces. He is an established pianist, organist, harpsichordist, choir conductor, and sound engineer.
