Home Is Where The Soul Is is one of only 2 albums bop pianist Kenny Drew recorded in the states after moving permanently to Copenhagen in 1961. Producer Don Schlitten says in the liner notes, 'The concept was to bring Kenny home to 'the cats' and home to that 'hip' style of comping that only a bassist like Leroy Vinnegar can set you up for. And for some of that real Bebop time, who could ask for a better drummer than Frank Butler.'
