Kuhlau: Violin Sonatas

Although he was born in Hannover, Friedrich Kuhlau (1786-1832) studied music in Denmark, and lived out his career there, becoming known as an important national composer.; Kuhlau’s style foreshadows the Romantic movement with its dissonances and harmonic changes, while still being firmly rooted in 17th century classicism.; This new release features Kuhlau’s violin sonatas op. 79, as well as two works for piano 4-hands.; These works are performed on period instruments by violinist Giorgio Leonida Tosi and pianist Paolo Porto.
