Vasks: The Seasons
The works of Latvian born Peteris Vasks (b. 1946) were not widely performed, published, and known until after Latvia won its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. His The Seasons, presented on this album, seek to evoke a magical world for the listener using only the piano. His seasons reveal the nature of the Baltic region- a long winter, a stormy spring, a short severe summer, and a colorful autumn. The pianist featured on this recording is Marcel Worms.
