The Palladian Ensemble is well known on an international level for their excellence and historical accuracy in performing Baroque music. An Excess of Pleasure was originally released by the group in 1993 as the group’s debut album. This recording helped to establish the group as one of the greatest period ensembles of our time. This album focuses around seventeenth century English music and the music of Italians who worked in England or whose music was sold and performed there during that time. When the album was originally released, it was named a Gramophone ‘Critics’ Choice.’ Palladian Ensemble is made up of Rachel Podger, Pamela Thorby, William Carter and Joanna Levine.
