Chopin: Berceuse in D flat major, Op. 57 Ballades Nos. 1-4 Mazurkas (4), Op. 17

Yundi follows his 2015 album of ‘The Complete Chopin Preludes’ with a new recording of Chopin’s ‘Ballades’. Yundi’s Chopin credentials need little introduction: as the youngest-ever winner of the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 2000, he has since returned to sit on the competition jury last year. Among the most enduring of Chopin’s compositions are his four ballades. A pioneer of the form, the dramatic and dance-like qualities of his style went on to influence composers such as Liszt and Brahms. Other pieces include Chopin’s exquisite Berceuse Op.57, and the four mazurkas op.17. This is Yundi’s first recorded interpretation of these works.
