Journey: Two Hundred Years Of Harpsichord Music

Trevor Pinnock, who is recognized as one of the best harpsichordists of his generation, has received international recognition along his journey. It seems befitting that for this unique recital, Pinnock charts two musical journeys four centuries apart: His, and that of sixteenth century organist and composer, Antonio Cabezon.; The program is in celebration of Pinnock’s seventieth birthday. He has decided on a very personal selection of compositions that evoke memories from different periods of his life.; Pinnock and Cabezon both widely traveled through Europe. Cabezon’s travels led him to meet several of the composers incorporated into this program. Works by Tallis, Byrd, Bull, Sweelinck, Bach, Frescobaldi, Handel, and Scarlatti ensure that this disc will be a pleasure.; Pinnock performs on his favorite instrument, a harpsichord built in 1982, modeled after the eighteenth-century French builder, Henri Hemsch.
