In 2010 he started the cooperation with fiddler Knut Buen, who has been an important person to hold and move further the Norwegian folk music. The album Ein song til deg Flatland use many songs which is penned by Knut Buen. Kjetil Flatland has arranged, composed and adapted ballads to a new rhythmic expression.
