Violin Concertos No. 4 & 5
Label: WARNER CLASSICS
PERLMAN PARIS ORCHESTRA BARENBOIM
To celebrate Itzhak Perlman’s 70th birthday on August 31, 2015, Warner Classics is releasing Itzhak Perlman: The Complete Warner Recordings, a fifty-nine album set which contains all the recordings he made for EMI Classics, Erato and Teldec. The deluxe box set contains every aspect of Perlman’s art: concertos (both the essential violin concertos and rarely-heard works), chamber music, recital and crossover repertoire, and even a disc that focuses on Perlman as a narrator and (briefly) opera singer. All fifty-nine albums in the box set will also be released individually, with the first batch being released October 9. The recordings from the analogue era have been remastered in 24-bit/96kHz sound at the Abbey Road Studios. The box set also includes a ninety-six page hardcover book that contains photos, a new interview with Itzhak Perlman, an essay on his life and career and personal tributes from a variety of distinguished fellow musicians, including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Daniel Barenboim, Yo-Yo Ma and Maxim Vengerov. Itzhak Perlman: The Complete Warner Recordings will be complemented by a 3-CD box, The Perlman Sound, and a collectors’ single LP released under the same title, each offering selections from The Complete Warner Recordings.
