In 2007, Isabelle Faust and Alexander Melnikov gave us an acclaimed version of Brahms’s First Violin Sonata. On this new release they complete their cycle with performances of Sonatas Nos. 2 and 3 alongside Schumann's Three Romances Op.94. The program concludes with the F.A.E. Sonata, a collaborative rarity by Brahms, Schumann and Albert Dietrich in honor of the great violinist Joseph Joachim, who was challenged by the composers to guess who had written which movement.
