Trumpet Maestro / Maurice Andre

The late Maurice André (1933-2012) was the greatest classical trumpet player of the 20th c. The first CD of the double-disc Trumpet Maestro is devoted primarily to German and Italian baroque concertos, with Maurice playing his famous piccolo trumpet, made especially for him by Selmer in the early 1960s. The second disc is devoted to the famous concertos of Haydn and Bach, followed by the most expressive pieces of the 20th c. with concertos by Aroutounian, Tomasi and Jolivet. These recordings arise from early on in Maurice André’s half-century long stupendous career, being realized from 1961-64.
