Rodrigo at 90 is an intimate portrait of Spain’s best-known composer. He lived a life filled with as much tragedy as joy, but his music maintained an outlook as sunny as the land whence it came. The famous Adagio from the Concierto de Aranjuez does not only seem to sound out the church bells of Aranjuez, it has also been widely used in commercials, documentaries & feature films, having also served as the foundation for Miles Davis’s Album Sketches of Spain. The soloist is guitar virtuoso Pepe Romero, a close personal friend of Rodrigo whose many works for guitar were written particularly for Romero.
