Weber: Missa Sancta #1, Haydn: Missa Sancta Caicil
STEIN BAMBERG SYMPHONY CHORUS AND ORCHESTRA LAKI SCHIML PROTSCHKA ROOTERING KUBELIK CHOR DES BAYERISCHEN RUNDFUNK
Thanks to its creation at the very same time as his famous opera “Der Freischütz” Carl Maria von Weber’s Missa Sancta No. 1 (1818) is also known as the “Freischützmesse”. • In 1986, Horst Stein, longtime principal conductor of the Bamberg Symphony, revived this rarely performed work in concert with soloists Krisztina Laki, Marga Schiml, Josef Protschka and Jan-Hendrik Rootering. • The coupled 1982 performance of Haydn’s Missa Sanctae Ceaciliae features the Bavarian Radio Symphony and Chorus under Rafael Kubelik and a soloist cast that includes Lucia Popp, Doris Soffel and Kurt Moll.
