This July 1952 Bayreuth performance of Richard Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde may be one the most outstanding live recordings of the work ever captured. Led by Herbert von Karajan, the stellar cast features Martha Mödl, Ramon Vinay, Ira Malaniuk and Hans Hotter. This recording derives from the private collection of Martha Mödl. As Ms. Mödl considered this performance one of her best she was able to secure a direct tape-to-tape transfer from the radio broadcast in the early 50's. Issued here without cuts, this release surpasses all previous market entries of the recording. 24bit/96kHz re-mastered.
