The work, heard here complete for the first time, is a glorious and expansive score from the mid-1930s and both Neary and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra rise to its pastoral romanticism and bittersweet half-lights with characteristic brio and understanding. In the best Dutton tradition, the album's coupling is conductor Ronald Corp's own Cello Concerto, a work well worth discovering.
