Alexander Zemlinsky, E. W. Korngold and Ernst Bloch shared a fate similar to many other important musical voices of the early 20th c. when their music was banned and their lives and careers upended in the years before or during WWII. Their names can be found in the infamous Lexikon der Juden in der Musik, first published in Germany in 1940. It is the hope that musicians and music-lovers everywhere will hear these works and be intrigued to listen to - and to play - these and other works by the many composers whose fortunes were curtailed by unfortunate timing on the stage of 20th c.
