Yuri Bashmet and conductor Dmitri Kitayenko, here leading the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow State Philharmonic Society, were the first performers of these works in the former USSR. Composer and violist Paul Hindemith premiered Walton’s 1929 viola concerto. Schnittke composed the Passacaglia, his first large-scale orchestral work, in 1980. Price: $27.98 |
