John Roney is one of today's most gifted pianists, excelling in countless musical genres, from jazz, classical, popular music, opera and contemporary music. His experience and expertise have garnered him the respect of the local Montreal jazz community as well as that of Canada's most iconic artists. Mr. Roney has led his own projects since 1996, has four albums to his credit to date, and has appeared on more than 30 commercial recordings. Award nominations for his work have come from the Juno Awards, Quebec's l'ADISQ and a Prix Galaxie de Composition in 2011 for his performance at that year's Montreal Jazz Festival. He's toured the world with his projects and currently teaches at two institutions in Quebec. On his latest release, the live recording "Preludes", Mr. Roney applies his own artistic sensibilities to the keyboard work of composers from Bach to Gershwin to Duke Ellington and more.
