Friedrich Gulda was an unusual personality. His performing career spanned both classical and jazz, and as a teacher, he was a tremendous influence on many of the 20th Century’s greatest pianists. A fine performer in his own right, Gulda gave his Carnegie Hall début at the age of 20, and is considered one of the most important interpreters of the postwar period.
