Testament offers this important recording as a tribute to the soprano Magda Olivero, who died in September 2014 aged 104. Francesco Cilea considered Olivero to be the definitive interpreter of his opera Adriana Lecouvreur. In 1951, after ten years of retirement, Olivero returned to the stage at the request of Cilea to revive the work and thereafter she remained active in opera and concerts almost to the end of her life. This recording features a live performance made at the 1963 Edinburgh Festival.
