Saint-saens: Violin Sonatas
Label: BRILLIANT CLASSICS
An experienced traveler, Camille Saint-Saëns was particularly inspired by his East Asian voyages. + The three sections – Prémice, Vision congolaise and Joyeuseté – of the Triptyque, op.136, the ‘almost sonata’, and the last of the composer’s major works for violin and piano, are a tribute to the composer’s Eastern fascinations. + The earlier works – two violin sonatas and Berceuse – also feature a variety of innovations. + Violinist Mauro Tortorelli and pianist Angela Meluso have been performing together for years and are experienced interpreters of Saint-Saëns and his contemporaries.
